You nailed it. So much of "orthodoxy" as you call it or fundamentalism is about limiting God's power. Rarely is God given credit for really being God, you know?

Although, with respect to the "other side," I think it takes a big leap of faith to accept homosexuality as "okay." Coming from that point of view before entering seminary, it took alot of discussions, listening, research, thought and prayer to accept homosexuality as acceptable.

One of our biggest challenges is to allow ourselves the room to let God be God, even if it means surpassing all of our understanding.

Rev Ref - I think you are right. If only we hand humility for one another, we might read scriptures more honestly and charitably.
