Marilynne Robinson has finally come out with her second novel, Gilead. Her first novel, Housekeeping, was poetry in prose, a wonderfully evocative and beautiful book that I wanted to read at a snail's pace. The reviews of Gilead have been excellent, and I will be purchasing it today.
Gardener Campell talks about it.
I finished Gilead over the holiday break. It's a remarkable book in every way: a novel of ideas that's also an intense character study and, finally, a kind of psalm. I loved the book and I know already that I will cherish each re-reading.
Let me know what you think when you've finished it.

Have you read 'Lamb' by Christopher Moore? He's a wonderfully imaginative writer, who helps you think outside the box. He has several other novels whose characters cross the story lines.
