New Year to you!
May you lose a few pounds,
or gain some, if you wish;
Eat more figs, yams and cabbage,
And only on Saint's days, a buttery dish.
Watch less law and order
TV marathons, or reality shows
and don't store in your larder
potato chips and oreos.
Walk to places you'd once have driven,
like the post office or the corner store.
Rediscover old friends that you've sorely missed
and offer time to strangers, their stories explore.
Offer Him more Goodness and Joy,
By writing a poem or cleaning a lake.
And on special feast days of the church,
indulge in Brooklyn Black-out Cake.
Praise God for the beat of the clave,
Cuban Cigars, a Rogue Ale, dancing hips.
Praise Him for the Son and the Spirit,
May we find ourselves latched in a kiss.
Here is Harper's End of Year Review.
The inside word is that the story of 2006 is about Jack Abramoff. I'm beginning a category on him. The inside scoop [according to a NYT editor acquaintence of mine] is that this "has legs."
cute poem
